I Thought the Problem Was Speed. I Was Wrong. It's Repetition.
Voice Documentation for Social Care
I built CareVoice focused on making documentation faster. Then I watched how care workers actually document. The same information, written in three different systems, for three different audiences, in three different formats. That's what burns people out. Not the writing itself — the writing it again. Voice documentation isn't just faster than typing. It means you capture everything once, in the moment, and CareVoice shapes it for whoever needs it. The social worker gets their version. The family gets theirs. CQC gets theirs. Same source, different outputs. No more evening catch-up. No more relying on memory.

The problem
The Real Documentation Problems
The same information written three times for three audiences
Same observations. Same person. Three times the work. I saw this when I worked as a carer during uni — document something in one place, write it again somewhere else, then someone asks for it in a different format. CareVoice: record once, shape for everyone. The social worker gets their version. The family gets theirs. CQC gets theirs.
Write onceA large share of your time goes to documentation
When I worked as a carer during uni, the feeling was always the same — I went into this to support people, and I spent half the day writing about supporting people. A large share of a care worker's time goes to documentation. Voice documentation captures everything in the moment, so that time goes back to direct care.
Spend less time documentingWriting notes at 10pm from memory
The reason a practitioner sits at their desk for 40 minutes after a home visit isn't always "I type slowly." Sometimes it's uncertainty about whether everything that matters was caught. Voice captures everything in the moment — details, tone, the exact words someone used. No more reconstructing from memory.
In-the-momentCare tech that staff resist using
Plenty of care tech gets rolled out to staff without anyone explaining how it supports the actual work, so it ends up feeling like something done to you rather than something that helps. CareVoice is built to be different — it assists your judgement, it doesn't override it. Speak naturally, review the output, you stay in control.
Works with youStaff with dyslexia or limited typing skills
Voice removes the barrier entirely. Speak naturally, get professional, structured documentation. Every staff member produces the same standard of output regardless of typing ability or written English confidence.
AccessibleInconsistent quality depending on who's on shift
Your best assessor produces great documentation. Your newest carer produces patchy notes. CareVoice brings everyone to the same standard — your agent structures the output consistently, so documentation quality doesn't depend on who happened to be on shift.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special equipment?
+
No. Any smartphone or tablet with a microphone works — CareVoice is designed to run on the device you already carry, so there's no special hardware to buy.
What if I make a mistake while speaking?
+
Just keep talking. You review and edit the output before anything is finalised — nothing is committed to the record until you've checked it.
Can I record conversations with service users?
+
CareVoice is designed for you to document your professional observations and assessment, not to record service users. Always follow your organisation's information governance policies.
How accurate is the transcription?
+
Capture is tuned to UK social care vocabulary — the terms that matter (Section 42, DoLS, PEG, safeguarding) are boosted so they come through as written rather than best-guessed. What follows the transcript is the bigger difference: the words are mapped into the framework the assessment actually needs.
Is my voice data stored?
+
Audio recordings are kept for a limited window — visit recordings for up to 90 days and family recordings for up to 180 days — then purged. The transcript and structured record become part of the care record and are retained. We never use recordings for training without explicit consent.
Does it work with background noise?
+
Yes, our noise cancellation handles typical home visit environments. Very loud environments may affect accuracy, but normal settings work well.
